All cars need repairs, even a luxury high-performance vehicle like an Audi. if you’re lucky enough to own one of these cars, keeping it in prime condition is a top priority. That means that you won’t let just anybody work on it. At Mike Brailey’s Auto, we have a team of ASE-certified technicians that you can trust with your Audi repair needs. All cars have their quirks and things that tend to wear out, and Audis are no exception.

These are the most common Audi repair issues to look out for if you own one of these vehicles.

Ignition Coil Malfunction

If your Audi’s check engine light comes on, the most likely culprit is the ignition coil. As you probably guessed from the name, the ignition coil is an important part of the ignition system. It is what generates the spark that ignites the fuel and starts the engine. If your engine misfires, it is most likely due to a failure of the ignition coil.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Failure

To reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, Audis use a process called exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). This means that some of the exhaust gases go back into the engine cylinders. EGR not only reduces an Audi’s emissions, but it also lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber. The problem is that if EGR fails, it can cause carbon buildup, which clogs the exhaust flow. If the issue goes unnoticed for too long, it can require replacing the catalytic converter to repair the problem.

Oil Leaks

You’d be hard-pressed to find a car that never has an oil leak, but different makes have different places that oil is likely to leak from. In an Audi, it is usually the valve cover gasket or the camshaft tensioner. Luckily, both of those parts are easy to replace. And in most cases, replacing one or both of them will stop the leak.
